Most of us come to the coast to look out at the ocean. We watch the waves, the sunset, and the horizon. But that evening, I found myself looking the other way.
I was sitting on a rock that stretched out into the water, looking back at the land. For over an hour, I watched. It felt like being at a show. The waves were the music. The changing light was the stage lighting. Every few minutes the cliffs glowed a little differently, the colors shifted, and people came and went without ever knowing they were part of it.
I realized there was a whole different view from out there. We spend so much time looking outward that we sometimes forget to turn around. From the ocean, I saw the land differently. I saw us differently too. Looking inward can be just as beautiful.
