Across the open grasslands of Central California, golden fields stretch toward the horizon beneath an endless sky filled with cloud after cloud. Looking at it, I become a child again. I want to run through the fields, reach up, and touch the clouds. They look like enormous cotton balloons, floating just within reach. For a moment, I can almost imagine letting go and flying up among them.
That is what I wanted to capture in this painting: the feeling of looking through a window into a world so wide, mystical and dreamlike that you want to step right into it.
A thousand clouds overhead. Golden grass beneath your feet. And the sky, somehow, close enough to touch. Be a child again.
